About This Mother

I Run This MotherAloha, I’m Jamie. I am a proud submariner’s wife βš“, a SLAY-at-home mom of 3, and the grateful daughter and granddaughter of a mother and grandmothers who developed dementia in their lifetimes. The lessons I’ve learned and continue to learn from these experiences inspired me to start taking better care of myself when I became a mother for the second time in 2011. I began documenting my wellness journey on I Run This Mother in October of the same year.

At age 35, I became a recreational runner for the first time in my life. I like to write about what I’ve learned on my running journey and share my training and race event experiences – the good, the bad AND the ugly.

I Run This MotherBeyond running, I enjoy telling stories, taking photos, trying recipes, listening to music, reading books, and sharing some of my favorite things and moments here with you. At times I’m more serious and insightful, at other times, I’m silly and snarky. At ALL times I try my best to live by my values and I intend to use my blog as a positive platform that promotes self-awareness, compassion, health, and love.

I offer stories, not advice, and I encourage you to consult a professional health care provider if you ANY concerns regarding your own personal well-being. I do promise to share with you my most authentic self in the hopes that it will encourage you to do the same no matter where you are in the world.

I appreciate you coming along on this marvelous ride with me. Feel free to connect via comments or email jamie(at)irunthismother.com.

Kindred spirits, my friend. I ran my first half marathon in 2009, and then ran my way through my husband’s deployment in 2012 (21 races including 7 half marathons and a full). Life it too short to live it in anything but our strengths. Congrats on your 13.1, and keep on keeping on!

WOW, Melissa! That is awesome! I have definitely loaded myself up with races this deployment (it’s our first) including a full. It’s been part of a day since they left and I find myself wondering when that strength is going to kick in. The motivated pre-deployment me (lol) planned many workouts today to celebrate the occasion so whether I want to or not, I’m getting up and getting it done! πŸ™‚ Thanks for the encouraging words!
